Proposal

I have decided that for my extended project I am going to design and make a clothing range. I will carry out research from a range of sources regarding different materials and how to go about making clothing items. From this I will then decide who my target audience will be and what particular clothing I think will be achievable for me to make. Following this, I will design and plan the chosen items. I am aiming to end up with a few various items that could all complement each other.  

I really want to do this for my project because none of my A- Level subjects that I am taking are practical subjects. When I was younger I had a passion for creating things and I now I’d like to have another go. I will need to improve on my design skills as I have never attempted to make clothing before. To go about this I will watch ‘YouTube’ videos that may help to teach me various tips in clothes making. I will also look at designers and try to find some inspiration in their work. I will need to establish some practical skills in making the pieces, particularly learning how to use a sewing machine, cutting patterns and creating drawn designs. For this I will read up on the internet and in books. I may also talk to professionals about the best methods to use. I will look in my area for a sewing circle or see if there are any courses I could attend. I will carry out market research, asking people of the relevant age group what type of clothing they prefer and I will look in fashion magazines. For this project I will organise my time effectively. As a basic outline I have made a timeline to stick too.
